Dear Colleagues,
We would like to welcome you to the 2011 international scientific conference for Biochemical Markers of Brain Damage!
After our BMBD meeting in 2009, we decided that 4 years is too long between meetings considering the immense amount of research being produced in the area of brain biomarkers. We have therefore decided to have the next meeting on May 9th-11th, 2011. The venue will be in the university town of Lund, Sweden, just over the international bridge from Copenhagen.
This forthcoming biomarker meeting will have several scientific priorities, including paediatric and adult head injury, stroke, neuroprotection and novel biomarkers. We expect to see several reports of clinical use of biomarkers along with follow-up reports of novel biomarkers that were presented at the prior meeting. We also see a growing tendancy for brain biomarkers being used in pharmacological/neuroprotection studies which further reflects the expanding applications of these biomarkers. We will have several specially-invited distinguished researchers presenting their work and we feel the scientific faculty includes most of the foremost international experts in the brain biomarker field.
As in 2009, we will be hosting the meeting in the small, but beautiful, university town of Lund which is delightful in springtime. The majority of the inhabitants in Lund are academics and the town centre is famous for its cobblestone roads and old buildings. We strive to provide an updated and stimulating scientific program as well as an exciting social agenda.
We hope to see you soon!
Warm regards,
Johan Undén and Bertil Romner, BMBD organizers
