The importance of bleeding complications in the treatment of heart disease has gained relevant attention in recent years. The first international conference on this issue was held in Lund in October 2007. The meeting was a success. In this second international conference on bleeding complications related to cardiac surgery, the treatment of acute coronary syndromes and atrial fibrillation, cardiologists, interventional radiologists, anaesthesiologists and surgeons will discuss theoretical and clinical practical issues.
