Our guests live and eat well, take part in conferences and meetings or attend dinners and banquets. Those who once have been at Grand Hôtel generally come back again.
The Grand Hôtel has a long and fascinating history. The hotel was built in 1874 by the Frenchman Régis Cadier and has since been a well-known landmark in Stockholm. The building and its long frontage may look imposing, but it is above all the beautiful rooms and restaurants on the inside that make the hotel that it is. History is written in the walls at the Grand Hôtel. Here, we will try to give you a small sample of everything that could be told about the hotel.

The Museum of the Swedish Society for the History of Pharmacy
The Pharmacy History Museum, which is owned and maintained by the Swedish Academy of Pharmaceutical Sciences, is situated on its premises in 24-26 Wallingatan in Stockholm. The museum contains a comprehensive collection of furniture, equipment and utensils from pharmacies and pharmaceutical industries, as well as a library.
The museum was founded in 1986 and has been provided with an extensive collection of pharmaceutical articles, donated to the museum over the years from members, individual collectors and pharmacists. Today, there are 12 rooms in the museum, furnished with objects that have been used in Swedish pharmacies over time. The museum building is about 140 years old and originally was a dwelling-house of the humblest standards, inhabited into the 1960ies.
During your visit you will see original signs from several old pharmacies established from the 17th century on, and follow the development of the manufacturing, dispensing and control of drugs at the pharmacies. For example, you can visit the crude drug store-room the tablet room, the ex tempore room, and the analytical laboratory.
The Scheele room contains several objects high-lighting the extensive research of the famous and extremely productive chemist and pharmacist Carl Wilhelm Scheele, who discovered seven chemical elements during the 18th century.
The latest addition to the museum is the industry-room, show-casing the history of Swedish pharmaceutical innovations and industrial development.
