Welcome to Malmö 2011!
It is my pleasure to invite you to the 1st Nordic Syncope Symposium
to be arranged in Malmö, Sweden, October 20-21 2011
NordSync 2011, is a two-day teaching course in Malmö, Sweden aiming at identification, investigation and treatment of patients with syncope.
Syncope – or sudden loss of consciousness – is a considerable clinical issue with an increased focus of attention during the recent years. Around 1-2% of all patients in the primary care sector are syncope-related, and 40% of all people will experience syncope during their life-time. Around 1000 patients/million inhabitants need acute care each year for syncope-related symptoms.
Syncope is a common interdisciplinary clinical problem in the community,
primary care, at the emergency department and in hospital based care, not
always adequately diagnosed and treated.
In spite of this, there are no uniform routine for handling this large group of patients in the Nordic countries today.
Invited speakers from Nordic and other European countries, some of whom
being co-authors of the current European guidelines for management and
treatment of syncope and arrhythmias, will share their experience and
knowledge during lecture sessions and round-table discussions.
See you in Malmö!
