Masterclass - Robot assisted surgery in gynecological oncology
Main course September 25-26 with associated hands on piglab
and practical training September 24 or 27
Main course December 4-5 with associated hands on piglab
and practical training December 3 or 6
TARGET AUDIENCE
The Masterclass is aimed at consultants, trainees and OR nurses in gynecological oncology within and outside Europe with some experience of, or an interest in, robot assisted laparoscopic surgery.
COURSE CONTENT
The Masterclass will feature live surgery demonstrations of radical nerve sparing hysterectomy and pelvic and paraaortic lymphadenectomy with a focus on practical performance, instrumentation and tips as well as surgical and neural anatomy. Live demonstration of radiocolloid and Near Infrared Techniques for detection of sentinel lymph nodes will be performed. Techniques for robotic trachelectomy and pelvic exenteration performed entirely with the da Vinci system will be demonstrated as well as techniques for robotic surgery in morbidly obese patients.
Included in course agenda is a one day practical training of pelvic and paraaortic lymphadenectomy, different suturing techniques and management of severe bleeding complications with the da Vinci system in a live porcine model as well as training of docking and port placement alternatives and training in robot simulators.
The number of course participants is limited to eight surgeons and four OR nurses to ensure optimal interactivity and exchange of experience and knowledge as well as maximal outcome of practical training and demonstration sessions.
We recommend delegates to bring an OR nurse to the partly separate program for OR nurses. The nurses program will cover OR set up, patient preparation and positioning as well as safety aspects and tips and tricks in robotics. The nurses will accompany a local robotic OR nurse in the GYN theatre. A total of four OR nurses may register for the break out nurses program.
The centre of Lund, and the University Hospital, is easily reached from Copenhagen Airport. Direct commuter train leaves every 15 minutes with a travel time of 35 minutes.
